2020 Wild About Houston: A Green Film Festival

In 2015, the Citizens’ Environmental Coalition brought the Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour to Houston for the first time, selling out the first showing and sharing the festival with an audience of thousands in following years. Despite the enthusiastic reception, CEC quickly realized that, while the WSFF was inspiring and meaningful, it did not showcase local environmental stories, issues, and heroes.

So CEC decided to create its own, local green film festival.

The CEC is proud to virtually host the third annual Wild About Houston Green Film Festival on Wednesday, October 21 and Wednesday, November 18, 2020.

CEC would like to use this festival to tell local environmental stories, highlight the work of CEC’s member organizations, and to inspire our residents and visitors to make a difference in the environment and our quality of life.

Members of the LIVE screening will select one of the films shown at October’s festival and one film from November to be shown at the Wild and Scenic Film Festival in January 2021. An additional “fan favorite” from either show will be nominated during December from online polling. More importantly, CEC hopes to expose a broader audience to local environmental stories and to honor the top films.

Submit a Film

The CEC is inviting local organizations and groups to share films that focus on environmental stories and how you are making a difference in the Houston/Gulf Coast region. If you are interested in showcasing your film during the Wild About Houston Green Film Festival, please review our submission guidelines and submit your film using our Google Form. Deadline for November show: October 30, 2020.

October 2020 Wild About Houston Features: Houston Parks Board, Houston Audubon, Urban Harvest, Buffalo Bayou Partnership, Bayou Land Conservancy, Gulf Coast Bird Observatory, Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary, Native Prairies Association of Texas, Houston Renewable Energy Group, W. H. Jones Forest and Houston Arboretum & Nature Center.

November 2020 Wild About Houston Features: A Trip Around the Sun, Keep Houston Beautiful, Galveston Bay Foundation, Harris, Galveston and Fort Bend Subsidence Districts, City of Pearland, Armand Bayou Nature Center, HARC, and a few more surprises. Stay tuned or make your submission by October 29.

The lineup will include three films that were selected from among the films at the Wild About Houston Green Film Festival in October 2019. Come out to support the Houston Parks Board, Buffalo Bayou Partnership and Environmental Defense Fund films.
