The Wild About Houston Green Film Festival returns in 2021 with an exciting lineup of short films about Greater Houston’s environment.

Join CEC for the 4th Annual Wild About Houston Green Film Festival, showcasing more than a dozen short films from the Greater Houston Area that tell the story of local environmental issues, their champions, and how you can make a difference.

The in-person event will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 at MECA (1900 Kane St. 77007) following an informal open house as part of CEC’s 50th Anniversary celebration. For COVID safety, face masks will be required while inside the building.

  • 5:30pm – Open House
  • 7pm – Film Festival

Event attendees will have a chance to vote to determine which films will be shown at the Wild & Scenic Film Festival on Tour, hosted by CEC in January 2022.

The Citizens’ Environmental Coalition is a coalition of both individuals and more than 130 member organizations working together to create a stronger environmental community. Since 1971, CEC has worked to foster dialogue, education, and collaboration on environmental issues in the Greater Houston region.

2021 Wild About Houston: A Green Film Festival

In 2015, the Citizens’ Environmental Coalition brought the Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour to Houston for the first time, selling out the first showing and sharing the festival with an audience of thousands in following years. Despite the enthusiastic reception, CEC quickly realized that, while the WSFF was inspiring and meaningful, it did not showcase local environmental stories, issues, and heroes.

So CEC decided to create its own, local green film festival.

The CEC is proud to present the 4th annual Wild About Houston Green Film Festival on Friday, December 17, 2021.

CEC would like to use this festival to tell local environmental stories, highlight the work of CEC’s member organizations, and to inspire our residents and visitors to make a difference in the environment and our quality of life.

The auction has some GREAT items in 2021, including a pontoon boat ride through Armand Bayou Nature Center, a private cistern tour from Buffalo Bayou Partnership, custom art made by an ambassador animal at the Delores Fenwick Nature Center in Pearland and a private tour of Deer Park Prairie with Native Prairies Association of Texas.
