86th Texas Legislature Updates: March 12, 2019
The deadline for the unrestricted filing of bills and joint resolutions–except in special circumstances–was March 8, 2019. When the deadline had passed, a total of 7,281 bills and joint resolutions had been filed, according to the Legislative Reference Library. None of these bills have passed. In comparison, legislators filed 6654 bills–of which 1161 eventually passed without veto–by the deadline during the 85th regular session in 2017. Recent bills of note relate to the eligibility for grants for alternative fueling facilities, to the regulation of radioactive waste, and to TCEQ reminders to public drinking water supply system operators regarding reporting requirements.
