CEC Welcomes Herson Lazo as a Web Developer Intern

Herson Lazo is currently a junior at the University of Houston-Downtown, where he is pursuing a Bachelor’s in Computer Science. He is very involved in the university academically where he is part of the Sustain Scholar’s, a program that teaches students about the importance of sustainability and allows them to work on projects to make the University of Houston-Downtown more sustainable. In addition, he is also part of the Scholar’s Academy, an organization that helps prepare students for their professional careers through many opportunities and academic resources.

Herson is very energetic and loves to stay active through cardio weightlifting and playing soccer. In his free time, he likes to spend time socializing with friends and also enjoys playing videogames. Some of Herson’s goals are going to graduate school, developing his first mobile application and traveling around the world.

Herson is very excited to be a part of the CEC and will be working on various projects such as web development, film making and social media marketing. Herson hopes to help the CEC reach their goals in any way possible and is excited to learn new skills at the CEC.

CEC welcomes Precious Elele as a Membership Intern

Precious Elele is a rising college freshman at Texas Tech University. She has shown great passion for computer science and plans to pursue a career in Computer Engineering. She is a 2020 Aspirations in Computing Award recipient for her outstanding accomplishments in computing. With her strong mindset, Precious aspires to use her knowledge in computer science and change the STEM field for good.

While in high school, Precious participated in several extracurricular activities, including The Woods Project, Environmental Student Alliance, Student Council, and Best Buddies. She was the Historian of the Student Council and the Friendship walk Coordinator of Best Buddies. In the summer, Precious volunteered in the media section of her church and an elementary school. Her hobbies include dancing, reading novels, and video editing. She also enjoys spending her free time with loved ones and making a difference in her community. Precious hopes to do the same with her community right here at CEC.

CEC welcomes Jessie Roussel as a Membership & Communications Intern

Jessie Roussel is a rising sophomore at Needville High School. She hopes to study at UT Austin once she graduates, and would like to pursue a job in environmental law. She hopes to do this job in order to help better the environment for future generations. She is very passionate about the future of the planet and hopes to make a difference in the lives of everyday people.

In her free time, Jessie volunteers at places such as the Houston Zoo and at her local church. She is in several clubs and activities including choir, Spanish club, and the school’s athletics. In athletics, Jessie plays on Needville High School’s varsity soccer team and junior varsity cross country team. She loves to express creativity in any way possible, making some of her hobbies artistically challenging. These hobbies include painting, sewing, and writing. Jessie also loves to spend quality time outside on her family farm or even at Brazos Bend State park. Her dream is to create a healthy and sustainable life for herself.

This summer, Jessie will be assisting the CEC in community outreach and connecting organizations around Texas.
