CEC welcomes Ana Gonzalez as Environmental Education Intern

Ana Gonzalez

Ana Gonzalez just graduated from Texas Southern University with a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies. She will be entering the field of education in hopes of making a positive difference in her community. She is interested in continuing her education to pursue a Masters in Educational Administration. Ana is very passionate about helping students be successful.

In her free time, she volunteers at church, and a local animal shelter. Ana loves reading, traveling, trying new things, and photography. She hopes to travel the world one day. Ana loves spending a lot of time outdoors. Her favorite activities outdoors include running, riding bikes, and playing tennis.

This summer, Ana will aggregate, create and translate lessons for the HEREinHouston.org website, and help educators from CEC member organizations with programming.

Ana is working at the CEC as part of the prestigious Mickey Leland Environmental Internship Program, organized by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The goals of the programs are:

  • To heighten the awareness and encourage the participation of minorities, women, and economically disadvantaged college/university students regarding environmental-related issues and policies.
  • To develop a diversified work force within Texas’ environmental agencies and private corporations by promoting employment opportunities for students exploring future careers in environmental and related fields.
  • To train and equip students as environmental professionals and future leaders.

She can be reached at ana.gonzalez@cechouston.org.
