Student Conservation Association seeks Multimedia/Environmental Education Intern

The Houston Community Partnerships and Engagement program (HCP&E) Environmental Education and Multimedia internship includes: 

DUTIES
-Conduct environmental education programs and activities for youth aged K-12 residing at Ronald McDonald House or living in environmental justice communities in the Houston region.
-Assist in the development of educational programs and activities on topics such as wildlife, migratory species, habitat, pollinators, and nature in the Houston metropolitan area.
-Working with HCP&E staff, develop multimedia products (primarily videos) for outreach and education purposes.
-Assist with and present programs for Virtually Wild!Texas, a virtual program conducted in the field to share nature with youth who may not have the opportunity to get outdoors. Incumbent will assist with computer and video technology, presentation research and preparation, and on camera presentations.
-Prepare weekly social media postings as part of the HCP&E Communications Plan. Identify and develop potential social media stories to be shared through photos and video.
-Gain hands-on experience working with refuge staff and partners on habitat restoration, biological monitoring, and outdoor recreation/visitor services programs in and around Houston.
-Participate in training for program-related skills and job shadowing to build program-related skills and certifications.
-Maintain program materials and tools, including vehicles, EE materials and more.
-Other duties may be assigned during the term of this internship, as priorities and opportunities for partnerships to connect urban audiences with nature arise.

Living Allowance: $250.00 per week
Relocation Travel: $1,100.00 one-time
Commuter Travel Allowance: $40.00 per week
Housing Allowance: $1,120.00 per month

This position qualifies for an AmeriCorps Education Award.

*All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.

It is SCA’s policy that all AmeriCorps-required background checks must return cleared results prior to the position’s start; this includes being fingerprinted for the FBI check. Otherwise, the AmeriCorps award will be removed or the position’s start date will be delayed due to non-compliance.
