Houston City Council Agenda – October 27, 2020
The city will consider the following agenda items at the Houston City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, 2020, which will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams at 1:50 PM. Public comment will be allowed Tuesday, October 27, 2020 by teleconference. This meeting will cover topics such as membership in the Water Research Foundation, the $37M Expansion Project for Northeast Water Purification Plant, the creation of a new Municipal Utility District, Flood Mitigation Assistance, several contracts relating to work at Wastewater Treatment Plants, and a waste hauling franchise.
- Agenda Item 2 is a recommendation from Houston Public Works for approval of payment of 2020/2021 Membership Dues to the Water Research Foundation at a cost of $476,358.
- Agenda Item 3 is a recommendation from the Director of Houston Public Works for approval of the final contract amount of $36,698,498 and acceptance of work on a contract with Houston Waterworks Team for work related to the Expansion Project for Northeast Water Purification Plant.
- Agenda Item 13 is an ordinance relating to the retail gas utility rates of Centerpoint Energy, approving Tax Cuts and Jobs Act Refund Rider Compliance filing for gas utility customers in the City of Houston.
- Agenda Item 24 is an ordinance consenting to the addition of 0.35 acres of land to Porter Municipal Utility District.
- Agenda Item 25 is an ordinance consenting to the creation of Acorn Lakes Municipal Utility District, containing approximately 38.19 acres of land within the City of Houston.
- Agenda Item 26 authorizing and approving a contract between the City of Houston and the owners of a property on Braeswood Boulevard for 2015 Flood Mitigation Assistance.
- Agenda Item 27 is an ordinance appropriating $267,500 out of the Water & Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund for a Professional Engineering Services Contract between the City of Houston and Jacobs Engineering Group, INC, for Park Ten Wastewater Treatment Plant Abandonment and Flow Diversion to Turkey Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant.
- Agenda Item 28 is an ordinance appropriating $52,500 out of the Water & Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund, approving and authorizing a Professional Construction Management and Inspection Services Contract between the City of Houston and Lloyd, Smith & Associates for Large Diameter Water Line Projects.
- Agenda Item 29 is ordinance No. 2020-883, also present on the October 21, 2020 agenda, granting to Federal Maintenance Services, INC, a Texas Corporation, the right, privilege, and franchise to collect, haul, and transport solid waste and industrial waste from commercial properties located within the City of Houston, Texas. This will be the third and final reading of this ordinance.
- Agenda Item 31 is a recommendation from the Director of Houston Public Works for approval of a final contract amount of $12,326,272 and acceptance of work on a contract with Main Line Industries, LTD, for Woodshire Drainage and Paving Improvements Subproject 1. This was Item 9 on the October 21, 2020 agenda, and was tagged by Council Member Castex-Tatum.
