Coalition Notes 12-01-2010

  1. Trees for Bolivar. Houston Audubon Houston Audubon recently received a grant for 1000 trees from the Apache Tree Foundation. On December 4th and 5th, they will be giving those trees away to property owners on Bolivar Peninsula. The giveaway will take place at Ft Travis Seashore Park in Port Bolivar.   2. Air Alliance Greeting Cards. Air Alliance Houston is selling greeting cards with the winning artwork from last year’s Earth Day Houston event. The cards will be on sale at Houston area farmers’ markets throughout the holiday season. The pack contains a set of nine cards, each featuring a different work of art, and will sell for $10 per pack.   3. Air Quality Reference Guide. H-GAC has released an updated Air Quality Reference Guide for the Houston-Galveston-Brazoria (HGB) Ozone Nonattainment Area. The guide is designed to help the citizens of the HGB region to better understand air quality, pollutants, the current status of “Ozone Nonattainment”, and what can be done to improve air quality for our citizens’ health and safety.   4. NatureFest Exhibitors. NatureFest is going to be held on March 5th at Jesse Jones Park, and it promotes community environmental awareness, as well as encourages people to become more active outdoors.
