by Greg Harman NORTH HARRIS COUNTY – Railcars roll by slowly about 200 yards to our south, squealing plaintively along the warm rails. The staccato bursts of semi-trucks along Highway 90 puncture the greenery around us, but the ears of this group are tuned to the marsh.
The Houston/Galveston National Weather Service’s 2006 Hurricane Workshop will be held on Tuesday, May 30, from 4 to 9 pm at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The workshop is free and open to the public. Door prizes will be awarded.
The area’s creeks, bayous, and bays are excellent places to watch birds and other wildlife, and several local groups offer May excursions.
