SPOTLIGHT ON SYNERGY AWARD WINNER ECOS PROJECT
Each year, through its Synergy Awards, the CEC honors individuals and groups who are working to make a difference in the Houston area. The ECOS (Environment as a Context for Opportunities in Schools) project from Baylor College of Medicine’s Center for Educational Outreach is the winner of the 2006 Synergy Award for Environmental Education. The program is a teachers’ professional development and curriculum implementation project that focuses on strengthening science teaching and learning at the elementary school level. The project targets elementary school students.
The awards ceremony will be Tuesday, Oct 10, at the downtown Crowne Plaza Hotel. There will be music by Moodafaruka (“global groove music with Spanish and Mediterranean rootsâ€) and a silent auction with more than 50 items. Larry Joe Doherty will be the master of ceremonies. Tickets to the event are $75, and sponsorship and table packages are available. For tickets, please call (713) 524-4232.
