The Bayou Preservation Association is seeking two Conservation Interns. The Interns will investigate bacteria sources in the most impaired water ways, learn Texas Stream Team protocols, conduct wind shield surveys, collect targeted bacteria samples, lab analysis to detect bacteria, follow up field sampling, and more. Bayou Preservation Association is seeking an experienced vegetation management firm to undertake the identification and removal of invasive plant species in a 16.5 acre riparian project site in Harris County. Firm will be responsible for replanting native plants in areas at risk for recolonization by invasive plants. Native plants are provided by Bayou Preservation Association. In addition, the firm will provide oversight and training for volunteer and young adult conservation work crews secured by Bayou Preservation Association. Bayou Preservation Association is seeking young adult conservation field work crews to undertake the removal of invasive plant species in a 16.5-acre riparian project site in Harris County under the supervision of a vegetation management firm. Crews will include herbicide application and chainsaw licensed members. Bayou Preservation (and/or a subcontractor) will provide conservation education to the crews to build a future workforce that is educated on coastal habitat restoration issues and techniques. Crews will also be responsible for assisting in the replanting native plants in areas at risk for recolonization by invasive plants. Bayou Preservation Association’s goal is to complete much of work by May 31, 2021. We anticipate securing a minimum of eight weeks up to twelve weeks of fee for service workforce to complete the project. Applications must be submitted by Jan. 21, 2021.
