Rice Design Alliance Annual Gala Honoring Judge Ed Emmett

On Saturday, November 17, 2018, at the Hilton Americas Downtown Houston, one of the design industry’s most anticipated events, the Rice Design Alliance’s 32nd Annual Gala Public will celebrate and honor Harris County Judge Ed Emmett with the Rice Design Alliance Award for Design Excellence.

In his eleven years working on behalf of the residents of Harris County, Judge Emmett has tackled the issues that most impact the urban landscape of our city and our region. From hurricanes and flooding, to aging infrastructure, transportation, and the stewardship of many important public spaces like the Astrodome, Judge Emmett’s contributions have shaped Houston through advocacy in design, giving a voice to so many of the values for which Rice Design Alliane stands. In his honor, this year’s Gala under the theme Public will highlight the importance of our public realm and those who through their service strive to maintain and improve it for all citizens alike.

Gala proceeds provide vital support for Rice Design Alliance’s educational and community programs, including our lectures, architecture tours, design competitions, and publications that promote critical discussions about the built environment in Houston.

The Rice Design Alliance Gala, which annually draws Houston’s architecture, engineering, design, and construction community together, will be chaired this year by long-time Rice Design Alliance supporters Charlotte and Larry Whaley. Public will be held at the Hilton Americas, beginning at 7 pm, and includes entertainment by Doppelganger and our terrific silent auction. Tickets are available from $500 to $1,000; tables from $3,500 to $25,000.

Purchasing a table early will assure priority reserved seating and your company name will appear in both the invitation and program when you purchase a table at the Benefactor level and above.
