The Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1987 under the laws of the State of Texas. The Foundation’s strength is that it involves a true cross-section of Bay interests to address issues and concerns related to Galveston Bay. It is managed by a strong Board of Directors whose members represent sport and commercial fishing groups, government agencies, recreational users, environmental groups, shipping, development, and business interests.

On Saturday, July 22, 2017, from 9:30 to 11:00 AM, you can join GBF to learn more about how you can help the Galveston Bay by attending their Rain Barrel Workshop! Rain barrels are an efficient, low-cost, low-maintenance method for collecting rainwater. They are placed at downspouts in order to reduce runoff and flooding, conserve freshwater, and reduce pollution reaching Galveston Bay via storm drains. It’s only $35 for one barrel and kit, and the workshop will provide all the necessary instructions on how to set one up*. To register, follow this link or email Kaitlin Grable with questions at kgrable@galvbay.org

*Please note that due to the size of their workshops and process of prepping the rain barrel, GBF cannot accommodate installation at the workshop. After attending, you will have all the materials and instructions needed to install the barrel at your home.
