Last year Commissioner Rodney Ellis launched Park-Smart Precinct One. The project’s goal was to improve community health and meet environmental challenges by increasing access to high-quality parks and trails. The belief behind the project was that parks are essential. They bring communities together, provide economic opportunity, improve health, and reduce environmental hazards like flooding and rising temperatures.

A year has gone by. The project has made huge advances thanks to the input of neighborhoods throughout Precinct One. In the process, thousands of community members have devoted their time and vision to building Park-Smart Precinct One.

Community workshops will be an opportunity to review and celebrate the vision for parks in Precinct One. It will also provide an opportunity for community members to provide feedback on the project’s preliminary results.

The events will be family-friendly, and light refreshments will be provided.
