Learn, Grow, Eat, Go! (LGEG) is a new research and evidence based curriculum enrichment program rich in STEM driven TEKS aligned and STAAR Ready nutrition and horticulture learning experiences perfect for school or after school enrichment programs.

LGEG grows good kids through an interdisciplinary program combining academic achievement, gardening, nutrient-dense food experiences, physical activity, and school & family engagement.

This training provides 5- hours CBEC hours approved by Texas Board of Education of professional development and includes review of the curriculum for grades 3rd to 5th, introduction to the many hands on cooperative learning experiences and recommendations on program development.

Participants will learn about JMG, WAT and LGEG curricula/success stories and the variety of ways school garden programs can be supported through local extension office’s personnel and Master Gardener and Master Wellness volunteers, district food service directors and staff, SHACs, parent groups, ESL participants and community groups such as churches.. This training will empower participants to think of school garden programs in new ways (community gardens) and as effective teaching tools to improve children and families engagement and health.

Learn, Grow, Eat & GO! Curriculum provides ten (10) concepts of instruction that emphasize Science, Math, Language Arts/Reading, Writing, Social Studies, Physical Education, Health, Horticulture, and Nutrition all with a solid correlation to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards.
