We all scream for ice cream! Some folks are scared to be out in the woods at night, but not our nocturnal animals. Owls, frogs, rabbits, and spiders all have special adaptations that allow them to see in the dark. Because of these adaptations, their eyes seem to glow when we shine a light on them. We can use that “eye shine” to spot all kinds of critters after sunset. Join us for an ice cream social (catered by Amy’s Ice Cream) and a fun lesson about how animals see at night, then come on a walk in the woods to look for eye shine. We will have a non-dairy fruit ice available. For the adults, we’ll also have Saint Arnold Brewing Company beer and Katz Coffee.

Class schedule: about 1 hour of indoor activity and 1 hour of gentle outdoor walking. Wear walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Hike guides will be carrying flashlights, but the trails will be dark.
