Please join H-GAC for a Disaster Debris Online Workshop on Debris Management Preparedness in Challenging Times

This half-day workshop will focus on activities that can assist jurisdictions in being prepared to respond to and recover from a disaster debris generating incident including:

• The challenges of COVID-19 on solid waste staffing, collections, and disposal to include:
  • Interviews with people in the industry
  • Best practices in confronting the challenges being faced
  • Potential funding remedies
• Health and safety precautions in conducting debris management operations considering COVID-19 or other infectious disease outbreaks/pandemics.
  • Training practices
  • Social distancing
  • Managing documentation
• Recent changes in disaster debris and public assistance regulations and guidance to include:
  • Changes made to the Public Assistance Program
  • Review of the Interim Public Assistance Debris Monitoring Guide

The workshop will also provide the participants an opportunity to discuss concerns and share their best practices and lessons learned from their past debris management response and recovery efforts.
