This is a special hike to celebrate the lunar eclipse occurring the evening after the hike. The after hike event will be eclipse viewing at the George Observatory. The observatory fee is $10 and they will have telescopes available for viewing. If you plan on staying, bring a PICNIC and a CHAIR for moon watching at the observatory. Make sure to bring additional warm clothing for the cooler evening temperature. See the event link for more details.

Entry fee to the park is $7 per person. Exact cash is the fastest way to get through the gate. Entry is free for everyone in your car with your Texas Parks Pass.

Our cumulative distance for 2019 before this hike is 24.4 Hugo miles.

Gathering Place:
After paying at the park entrance, pass the first parking lot and follow the park road a ways to the second big parking area on the left. Look for us there or near the Nature Center. Cell service is unavailable in much of the park. Try texting Alan if you need help:[masked].

The Hike:
The hike will cover trails that take us next to five of the lakes in the park. This will be slightly shorter than normal for this park at 9.1 miles so we will be finished before it gets dark. The hike is mostly on improved trails and partly shaded.
