Ever wonder how to survive in the wilderness or curious about some cool tips for camping? Join us at the next Nurture Nature Series on February 4 when Baytown Nature Center naturalist, Crissy Butcher demonstrates the five basic skills: fire, shelter, signaling, food/water and first aid. Hiking safety will also be covered for those interested in short day trips. This two hour program from 10 am – noon is for outdoor enthusiasts looking to enhance their experience with essential information.

For more fun and realism, participants have the opportunity to act out a scenario showing how they would deal with specific survival situations.

After Nurture Nature, stay to enjoy all the nature center has to offer: fishing, picnicking, hiking, birding and more. Take advantage of the Gulf Coast winter and make a day of it!

The family-oriented series, offered the first Saturday of each month is free with regular admission to the nature center, at 6213 Bayway Drive. There is a $4 fee for adults and children 13 and older. Children 5-12 and seniors are charged $1. Annual passes for individuals and family are also available for $30 and $65 respectively.
