Join us for the Parks and Natural Areas (PNA) Roundtable Field Trip on Thursday, November 14, with a presentation and short walk at Spring Creek Nature Trail. We will meet at the recreation center at Rob Fleming Park, 6464 Creekside Forest Drive, The Woodlands.
Following the presentation and walk, we can meet at The Craft Grill for lunch on our own.
Transportation to and from H-GAC can be provided for up to 20 registrants. We will leave H-GAC at 8:30 a.m. The field trip officially ends at noon. Anyone riding with H-GAC will return at approximately 3 p.m.

And be sure to plan to wear closed-toed shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty or even muddy. Spring Creek Nature Trail is a natural trail, so prepare for outdoor conditions.
The PNA Roundtable serves as a forum for discussion of issues related to parks and natural areas, promotes the PNA Award Program, and maintains a regional inventory of parks. The PNA roundtable facilitates information exchange and planning efforts between various stakeholders and collaborators to protect and preserve parks and natural areas across the region.
The PNA Roundtable meets the second Monday of January, March, May, July, September and November and is open to anyone interested in participating.

Going Green in Houses of Worship – Learn from Others!
The Interfaith Environmental Network of Houston invites you to learn how houses of worship in Houston are going green and consider what you could do in your own house of worship. Join speakers of a variety of faith backgrounds who will discuss work in their houses of worship to go green in their building, grounds, worship services, community service projects, advocacy, educational programs, and more. After each speaker presents on their work, we will have break-out sessions where you can discuss your challenges in going green in your house of worship and get tips from others. People of all faiths are encouraged to attend, as are representatives of local environmental non-profits that would like to work with people of faith on environmental issues. On Jan. 26, from 9:45-11 a.m., Christ the King Lutheran Church will host a presentation by Dr. Stephen Long, a public health physician, on the EAT Lancet Commission on Food, Planet & Health: Healthy Diets from Sustainable Food Systems report. This study, compiled by 37 scientists and other experts from 16 countries, aims to establish a global food economy that could combat chronic diseases in wealthy nations like ours and provide better nutrition for poor ones, all without destroying the planet. Pre K- 8 grade teachers interested in learning about forest ecosystems, water, wildlife, and conservation education topics in a fun, hands-on professional development program.
Interact with foresters, biologists, educators, and forest industry professionals who care for forest lands and make wood products that we use every day.
Receive Project Learning Tree Pre K-8 educator certification and teacher guide.
Hands-on learning will include resources and activities that you can bring to life in your
classroom or school yard through citizen science, STEM, career exploration, and field study. 14 hours SBEC CPE and TEEAC credit.

Day 1: E.O. Siecke State Forest (Call, TX near Kirbyville) – 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
– Learn about Texas forest ecosystems, habitat management, forest hydrology, fire ecology and animal and plant functions and structures, nature journals, water cycles, and more.
– Receive training in Project Learning Tree’s interdisciplinary environmental education curriculum.
Day 2: E.O. Siecke State Forest (Call, TX near Kirbyville), meet and begin tours – 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
– Tree Life Cycle field sites: tour a working forest, a timber operation, and WestRock paper mill.

Christ the King Evangelical Lutheran Church invites you to a monthly environmental education web meeting series whose theme in 2020 is The Wonders of Nature.
Lady beetles, or ladybugs, have long been recognized as one of the best biological controls for many insect pests in both home gardens and agri-business. The diversity in this family of insects has been well-characterized yet they have largely been represented by only a few select species which have been introduced in the U.S. via different methods. So, who are our native lady beetles? What are their dietary preferences and habitat needs? This presentation is an introduction to some of the native lady beetles in the greater Houston area and an overview of their biology and habitat needs.
