First we volunteer, then we beer! Meet behind the Cullen Running Trails Center to help Memorial Park Conservancy in our volunteering efforts, then hang out and enjoy a complimentary Saint Arnold Brewing Company beer (or 2). Lawn Games and Food trucks will be onsite too!

Topics include: Emerald Ash Borer – Coming to a City Near You, Using Tree Growth Regulators to Reduce Pruning Costs, and Greening the Houston Region – Partnerships and Projects that Support the Urban Forest.
Walking Tour
Willow Waterhole is hosting a free walking tour on Saturday, December 21, at 10 AM. The tour is 60-90 minutes in length and is easily walk able for all ages. Plenty of parking is available at 11350 Ricecrest and they will meet under the big oak tree. Please join to learn about the history of their green space, upcoming events, and future plans. Dogs are welcome on leash.

Memorial Park’s Forest Health Day is an opportunity for you to get your hands dirty together with the Conservancy as we continue to restore balance in the Park’s ecologies.
Join Memorial Park Conservancy, Trees For Houston, and Houston Parks and Recreation Department for this approach to urban forestry, combining tree planting with sustainable forest practices such as invasive removal and soil treatments. This is a family friendly event that welcomes tree lovers of all levels to volunteer and learn about urban forestry.

Hawks, falcons, owls and more await you at Houston Audubon’s Raptor Photo Shoot. You will have the opportunity to photograph Houston Audubon’s education raptors in an intimate setting at Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary. Whether you use a simple point and shoot or serious photography equipment, you will enjoy meeting and learning about these awesome birds.
Raptor Shoots are typically from 8AM – 10AM but times will be confirmed by email for each session depending on sunrise. Light refreshments will be served on the deck for all to enjoy during the shoot. Space is limited to 15 participants. The fee is $40.
H-GAC’s Parks and Natural Areas Summit and Awards Ceremony will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, February 14, 2020, at H-GAC Conference Room B, Second Floor. The Summit will include presentations on trends and topics related to parks and natural areas.
The event will also include the annual Parks and Natural Areas Awards recognition ceremony. These projects serve as models for planning and project implementation for parks and natural areas in the region. Projects will be honored in three categories: Planning Process, On-the-Ground Projects Over $500,000, and On-the-Ground Projects Under $500,000.
A light breakfast will be served. Registration and breakfast begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by topic speakers at 9:30 a.m. The awards program will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will be followed by networking until noon.
