Held on the “2nd Saturdays†of each month, they will enjoy a delicious vegan potluck and meeting, along with a discussion, film screening, food demo or speaker presentation on intersectional issues of veganism, animal rights, environmentalism, nonviolence, health and more. Each month will be something new! Their new venue is at the HCC Conference Center.
They are asking for a donation of $5 per person to help cover our facility rental expenses. All attendees must bring a vegan entree to share at the potluck (serving size to feed 10 people)!
Please remember to bring a vegan dish to share with the group! Their events are always vegan, so please only vegan or raw vegan foods (no animal-derived ingredients). Also bring reusable dinnerware and plates to keep the event earth-friendly. If you have questions on ingredients, feel free to contact them.
They will also feature a new discussion topic on inter sectional issues each month, such as: animal rights, ethical vegan living, vegan health & nutrition, cooking, world hunger solutions, eco-friendly living, nonviolence and more! Some months will also include film screenings and/or guest speakers and food demos.
Houston Community College Conference Center is located at 3100 Main St, 3rd Floor, Houston, TX 77002. See below for map. Free Parking is available on level 7 & 8 of the HCC Administration parking garage at Main & Elgin. Use elevator from parking garage to 3rd floor breezeway, which leads to the Conference suites. You must enter the building through the parking garage and not street-level.
All attendees must sign in at the Security Desk.

Hosted by Discovery Green Conservancy in partnership with Citizens’ Environmental Coalition, and sponsored by Green Mountain Energy, this year’s Earth Day event will be on Apr. 14, from noon to 5 p.m. Featuring exhibits, bands, food, speakers, and more, the 2019 celebration supports Discovery Green’s mission of providing free events that promote a healthy environment and sustainable operations.
Exhibitor space is limited. Early registration ends on Feb. 14. Registration prices will increase on Feb. 15. Exhibitor registration closes on Mar. 14.

H-GAC’s Solid Waste Program is reimagining its past roundtable-style meetings into a new Solid Waste Workshop Series. This format will offer a more in-depth look at select solid waste topics, resulting in greater value for attendees.
Dates for the 2019 Solid Waste Workshop Series:
- Feb. 21, 2019 – Environmental Enforcement
- May 16, 2019 – Recycling
- Aug. 15, 2019 – Food Waste
- Nov. 21, 2019 – Special Waste
This free, monthly workshop addresses the basics on how to install and operate a solar system. It covers topics such as solar array types, costs of equipment and labor, permitting, energy savings, and reliability. The instructor, Bill Swann, is an expert in solar energy and has built many of his own solar systems. This workshop is ideal for all people; Bill can answer the simplest and most technical of questions. If you want to learn more about solar, this is the workshop for you. Join H-GAC for the next Clean Waters Initiative Workshop to discuss Funding Sources for Water and Wastewater-Related Infrastructure. After presentations by several funding agencies, attendees will have an opportunity in the third hour to ask questions and further delve into the topic area with presenters, including the Texas Water Development Board, in an open-house style setting.
The H-GAC Clean Waters Initiative Workshop Series returns on Feb. 26, 2019. The tentative topic will be funding sources for water and wastewater-related infrastructure.
Dates for the rest of the year are May 22, 2019; Wednesday, August 21, 2019; and Wednesday, November 20, 2019.
Clean Waters Initiative offers workshops that help local governments, landowners, and residents develop effective strategies to reduce pollution in our area waterways.
