This class will teach you the basics of fruit tree selection, planting, care, and maintenance. Fruit trees are wonderful additions to the urban landscape with beautiful flowers, fragrance, and the reward of organically grown fruits. They support pollinators and can provide habitat for birds. We will cover temperate fruit trees, citrus, and the semi-tropical varieties that are appropriate for our area. Participants will receive a month-by-month calendar for fruit tree care – pruning, pest control, harvesting and fertilization. If you don’t have enough space, fruit trees can also be grown in containers! Class ticket may be used to tour museum permanent exhibits. There are no refunds on classes.

H-GAC is the official liaison for the United States Census Bureau’s Participant Statistical Areas Program (PSAP) for the 13-county H-GAC planning region. As part of the PSAP, the U.S. Census Bureau requires re-establishing boundaries based on population growth or loss at the Census Tract and Census Block Group levels with every decennial census count.
H-GAC staff will host a series of workshops to engage stakeholders in open dialog about the process for re-establishing boundaries. The workshops are designed for individuals at the county and local levels who use census data for planning purposes and demographic data users who base research and policy decisions on Census Tracts, Block Groups, or Census Designated Places.
The workshops are free and open to the public, but registration is required.
