Hurricane Harvey devastated large areas of Texas in August 2017 and is estimated to be the most expensive natural disaster in US history. Vulnerable groups are at higher risk for flood exposure and adverse social determinants of health (SDH), both of which can negatively influence health outcomes. On October 20, 2018, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., take your family or students to Houston’s largest annual free, public family festival at Sam Houston Park. Hosted by the Consumer Energy Education Foundation, Energy Day showcases science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) with nearly 70 interactive demonstrations and exhibits.
The Energy Day Festival was founded in Houston, Texas in 2011 to provide outreach and educational support materials, events, activities, resources, and information about career opportunities in STEM and the various energy fields – stressing the importance of energy, conservation, and efficiency to schools, students, and their families.
