Join Ranger Joel for 30-45 minute kayak lessons on Lake Livingston on Independence Day.Rangers will have single and double kayaks available for short 30-45 minute introductory kayak lessons.

Kayaks will be available on a first-come first-serve basis at no cost to our park visitors. Life vests and cold water will be available so bring an empty water bottle, sunscreen, water shoes or sandals, and a towel to enjoy some time on the water with Rangers. Meet at the park store boat ramp at one of the times listed above to learn about kayaking!
Learn the fundamentals of kayaking, then take a guided paddling tour.
They recommend wearing water-tolerant shoes and a hat, and make sure you bring a water bottle.
There are a limited number of kayaks, so reservations are required. Contact the park store at 936-365-2201 x2060, or email joel.janssen@tpwd.texas.gov to reserve a spot. Â Please note: reservations are not valid until you receive confirmation from Ranger Joel that we have reserved your slot.
Kayak with a Ranger will take place at the shelter boat ramp. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled launch time or your spot may be given to someone on the wait list.
Regular park admission fees of $5 per adult ages 13 and up apply; no additional charge for activities.
Kayaks, paddles, and life jackets are provided by Lake Livingston State Park.
Adult kayak tour at sunset, RSVPs only. Theywill start with an orientation on land, paddle out into the bay, and return before the sun sets. Starting location is the Oak Bayou picnic area.
Before you can join us:
• Park entry fee paid before trip.
• Must RSVP 48 hours before the trip with Lisa.Reznicek@TPWD.Texas.Gov
• All children must be accompanied by an adult, and the program is for ages 13 and older.
• Close-toed shoes and life jackets must be worn during trip.
What to expect:
• Prepared for physical, outside, water-based activity. (Suggested weight limit for kayaks = 250 lbs.)
• Free safety and paddling lesson
• Free gear use (kayak, paddle, and life jackets)
• Small group instruction and guide (<17 people)
• 1.5 hour paddling trip to Galveston Bay, over sea grass beds and bay bottom.
• Anything that goes out on the tour may get wet, muddy, salty, or completely submerged
Come along on a morning of education and adventure, paddling on a guided tour along Armand Bayou. Enjoy a leisurely morning of wildlife watching, wetland education, relaxation, and fun. Observe numerous birds, reptiles, and deer who are starting their day at the water’s edge. Beginning and experienced canoeists welcome. Minimum age 12 years old. Advance reservations REQUIRED. 281 474-2551. Fee is $25 per person.

12 – 2 p.m. Free Public Event with live music, wildlife exhibitions, and non-profit booths
All proceeds benefit Bayou City Waterkeeper’s conservation, advocacy, and education programs. This event is part of the Waterkeeper Alliance SPLASH Series, presented nationally by Toyota USA.

Kick-off the cooler weather with this smooth paddle up Spring Creek to the beautiful white sand beach where Spring Creek and Cypress Creek meet. Join Harris County Commissioner Pct. 4 Jack Cagle for a fun trip down the beautiful Spring Creek Greenway. Registration is required.
Canoes and tandem kayaks will be available, but you can also bring your own (no later than 3:45 p.m. to offload your boat).

Join Buffalo Bayou Partnership for Texas’ largest canoe and kayak race – the 47th Annual Buffalo Bayou Partnership Regatta on March 9th.
