Easter Games @ Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center

Enjoy egg rolls, bunny races, spoon races, and other traditional Easter games at Redbud Hill Homestead. Bring a picnic lunch. Ages 12 or under. Reservations required beginning Mar. 21, 2018.

All Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center programs requiring reservations are limited in size and open to one family per phone call. Group reservations are not allowed unless otherwise indicated. Preferential reservations are given to Harris County residents. Persons not residing in Harris County may attend a space-limited program if spaces are available.

All programs and events are free of charge unless otherwise noted and open to the public regardless of socioeconomic level, race, color, sex, physical ability, national origin, or religion. Anyone requiring special assistance to participate in these programs should contact the nature center. Programs meet at the Nature Center unless otherwise noted. Solid shoes are recommended for all walks. Call 281-446-8588 for reservations or information.

Nature Discovery Center’s Annual Spring Fling Festival @ Nature Discovery Center

This year’s festival will feature a food truck, interactive nature stations, live animal encounters, and children’s crafts and activities. Booming & Blooming Attwater Prairie Chicken Festival @ Attwater Prairie Chicken National Wildlife Refuge

APC Festival groupAttwater Prairie Chicken Festival is the annual celebration of the Attwater’s prairie-chicken and the native coastal prairie that the iconic bird calls home.

Early morning van tours will take participants up to one of the booming grounds to watch the male prairie chicken’s famous courtship dance. Other events this weekend include wildflower and native plant guided tours, bird walks and birding van tours with experienced birders, refuge management tours and a merchandise booth sponsored by the Friends of Attwater Prairie Chicken Refuge.

Sturdy shoes, drinking water, binoculars and/or spotting scopes and field guides are recommended.

Photo of American KestrelMigration Celebration is held annually in April in southern Brazoria County, Texas, sponsored by the Friends of the Brazoria Wildlife Refuges in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Texas Mid-Coast National Wildlife Refuge Complex. The Kickoff Dinner will be held on Apr. 13, 2018, and the 24th Annual Migration Celebration will be held on Apr. 21 and 22.

Migration Celebration activities are centered on the San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge but formally starts with a fundraising dinner and featured speaker at Freeport RiverPlace located in the Freeport Municipal Park.

Migration Celebration’s events and presentations are designed for the introductory level but still keeps some focus on birds with our Birds of Prey programs and the San Bernard Oak Trail tours.

With the exception of fundraising activities, all other Migration Celebration events, tours, presentations, and other activities are free to the public. This is made possible by the generous donations of time and money by our sponsors, partner organizations, and volunteers.

Willow Waterhole 2018 MusicFEST @ Willow Waterhole Greenway

The sixth edition of the Willow Waterhole 2018 MusicFEST is a two-day event featuring 20 hours of FREE diverse music, provided by 19 Pro Bands and 16 Student-School Bands.  Also returning are the Artist Village with new vendors, and five food trucks with diverse cuisine. It’s all happening at the naturally beautiful 290-acre Willow Waterhole Greenway. Come join the fun on April 21 and 22, 2018!

Volunteers are needed as greeters, parking assistants, tent and equipment set up, etc.
