AIRPORT DAY! @ George Bush Intercontinental Airport
Jul 14 @ 3:15 am – 4:30 am

It’s AIRPORT DAY!

We need your help! Join The Woods Project at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and or William P. Hobby Airport as we send off our 155 students and 50 volunteers for their life-changing 2 weeks in the woods.

We have 6 flights departing June 10th through July 20th. For many of our students, this will be their first time on a plane – an exciting and nervous time! We need volunteers on the ground to help our student groups maneuver through the check-in process. This is a great way to connect with our students and encourage them as they embark on their journey.

We would like to have the help of 4 volunteers with each flight time.

Parking: Volunteers can park close to the Terminals or choose satellite parking. Please allow adequate time to get to the terminals, if you decide on satellite parking.

Volunteer duties will include:

1. Check-In

This wil be a 2 person job. Upon arriving at the airport the greeter will send the students to a designated spot for their check-in. The people working the check-in will have a list of all students and their plane tickets. They will mark the student off the list and then someone stationed with them will hand the student a plane ticket and a t-shirt. They will then direct the students in the direction of the Leader/Student Groupers. This job will also include handing out breakfast or snack items and ensure that they move quickly as they receive their items.

2. Student/Leader Grouper

We will need approximately 2 people working on moving the students once they have checked in and received their plane tickets. We are looking to group approximately 10 students with 1-2 Woods Project leaders traveling with students to then head to baggage claim and then to the security line. The Grouper will be in charge of making sure the students and Woods Project leaders stay together and are moving together once they have been put into a group and line up at security line. A second roll call must be made just before getting through security

Please let us know if you have a preference on how you would like to help directly at miles@thewoodsproject.org
