Tyke Hike SquareEncourage your child’s curiosity about nature and spend time with them exploring outdoors! Children 18 months to 3 years, with their adult companions, can join a naturalist for a story reading, a simple nature activity or craft, and a stroller-friendly hike on the beautiful Arboretum trails. Enjoy an interesting new nature experience each week with themes such as turtles, armadillos, spiders, and trees.

Please dress for weather. Tyke Hikes take place rain or shine. Closed-toe shoes are best for trail hikes. Older preschoolers are welcome but are the responsibility of the adult companion.

There are many opportunities for you to get involved with EIH’s WaterSmart Habitat. Whether you’re looking for community service hours, or just a change of pace. Habitat volunteers help weed and mulch flower beds, plant native plants, maintain pathways, and trim trees and bushes. Volunteers may also help clean out the pond on select work days.

Volunteering at EIH is a great way to get your organization involved in the community. Please call in advance if you have a large group or if you would like to schedule your group on a different day. Houston Audubon’s Titmouse Club @ Houston Audubon Society

Through stories, hands-on activities, nature walks, and crafts, your children will be inspired with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the natural world around them. Each week’s Titmouse Club lesson features a different nature theme, focusing on Houston-area animals and habitats. Your children will enjoy nature stories and puppets, hands-on biofacts, nature crafts, up-close animal encounters, and a short walk in the woods, all led by volunteer docent teachers.

Plant It Forward farms are selling fresh produces directly on-the-farm at their neighborhood Farm Stands. You can stop by during Farm Stand hours to buy freshly harvested produce from your friendly neighborhood farmer.

The Rice University Farmers Market supports activities, goods and services that promote community education about the benefits of eating fresh, locally produced food. No cash? Not a problem. 2045 RTP: Public Meeting @ Liberty Center - Liberty City Hall

2045 RTP LogoLearn what’s next for the 2045 Regional Transportation Plan at one of their upcoming public meetings. They will highlight an expert panel featuring “Transportation 101: What You Need to Know.” During the public meetings, expert transportation panelists will discuss future transportation projects in your area selected from the recent “2018 Call for Projects” application process. The panel will also talk about air quality and transportation conformity, transportation performance measures, regional resiliency efforts, and when the 2045 RTP draft plan will be unveiled. H-GAC will be collecting public comments about the “2018 Call for Projects” selection; the draft plan of the 2045 RTP; and, transportation conformity.
