Hosted by Discovery Green Conservancy in partnership with Citizens’ Environmental Coalition, and sponsored by Green Mountain Energy, this year’s Earth Day event will be on Apr. 14, from noon to 5 p.m. Featuring exhibits, bands, food, speakers, and more, the 2019 celebration supports Discovery Green’s mission of providing free events that promote a healthy environment and sustainable operations.
Exhibitor space is limited. Early registration ends on Feb. 14. Registration prices will increase on Feb. 15. Exhibitor registration closes on Mar. 14.
The Spotlight Award considers architects from around the world within the first 15 years of their professional practice who have demonstrated design excellence and curiosity through their body of work. Rice Design Alliance has selected DUST as the recipient of the Spotlight Award 2019.
DUST Principals, Cade Hayes and Jesús E. Robles, Jr., will be delivering the Spotlight Lecture 2019 at The Museum of Fine Arts Brown Auditorium designed by Mies van der Rohe.
On Wednesday, February 20, 2019, Houston Wilderness will have the honor of presenting its annual Wild Life Award to Joe B. Allen at the Annual Luncheon at River Oaks Country Club. The award will honor his legacy of environmental-based laws that are providing new parks, trails, and open space in subdivisions all over the state.
Celebrate the talented people who are using historic preservation to make Houston a better, more interesting place to live during The Cornerstone Dinner. John L. Nau III is chairing Preservation Houston’s signature event.
During the event, Harriet & Truett Latimer will accept Preservation Houston’s 2019 President’s Award for their outstanding contributions to historic preservation in Houston and Texas. Preservation Houston hopes that you will share the excitement as they present the 2019 Good Brick Awards for excellence in historic preservation, recognizing the diverse people and projects that continue to make our city unique.
A reception will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the program will start at 7:30 p.m. at River Oaks Country Club. Reservations are required.
Chimney Rock Market is an outdoor market that features local artists and farmers. Beginning on Feb. 18, 2018, are open the first Sunday of each month.
Their vendors sell mouth-watering eats and artisan gifts the whole family can enjoy. As always, four-legged friends are welcome. There will be plenty of treats for them too!
When you’re done shopping, stop in Sean Anthony Salons to browse the beautiful art gallery brought to you by Creative Energy. Art Reception is from 2pm-4pm. Meet the Artisits! Refreshments will be served.

Join thousands of your fellow Houstonians from all over the city as they gather on Miller Hill to fly kites of all shapes and colors.
This free festival is a day full of live entertainment, interactive activities and crafts, face painting, food trucks, and–of course—kite flying!

Hawks, falcons, owls and more await you at Houston Audubon’s Raptor Photo Shoots. You will have the opportunity to photograph Houston Audubon’s education raptors in an intimate setting at the Houston Audubon Raptor & Education Center. Whether you use a simple point and shoot or serious photography equipment, you will enjoy meeting and learning about these awesome birds. Light refreshments will be served on the deck for all to enjoy during the shoot. Space is limited.
The kiosk at Boy Scout Woods opens on Friday, March 29 and closes on Sunday, May 5. Many activities are planned, including:
- Birding walks – 3 times/day (Apr. 4 – 29)
- Photography walks (Apr. 4-29)
- Bird-friendly plant sale (Apr. 1 until sold out)
- Land Sea & Sky binoculars – weekends in April
- Flight in Focus – 2-day photography event (Apr. 6-7)
