KPFT Birthday Party Benefit at The Heights @ The Heights Theater

Featured performers include:  – Ruthie Foster – Award-winning singer-songwriter Ruthie Foster brings a mix of soul, blues, rock, folk and gospel; – Kevin Russell – beloved singer-songwriter and guitar/mandolin/ukulele player behind the group Shinyribs;
– Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines – independent Texas songwriter Terri Hendrix, joined by legendary producer/musician Lloyd Maines; – Lisa Morales – singer-songwriter Lisa Morales crafts songs with beautiful lyrics in English and Spanish; – The Peterson Brothers – The Peterson Brothers combine old-school blues, soul and funk, plus not-to-be-missed jam-band inspirations; – Folk Family Revival – Roots-rock band Folk Family Revival are local favorites.  Get there early – when the doors open at 11 AM, GenerAsian Radio will be in the house laying down a great set of world beats!

The sixth edition of the Willow Waterhole 2018 MusicFEST is a two-day event featuring 20 hours of FREE diverse music, provided by 19 Pro Bands and 16 Student-School Bands.  Also returning are the Artist Village with new vendors, and five food trucks with diverse cuisine. It’s all happening at the naturally beautiful 290-acre Willow Waterhole Greenway. Come join the fun on April 21 and 22, 2018!

Volunteers are needed as greeters, parking assistants, tent and equipment set up, etc.

Brew at the Zoo @ Houston Zoo

Bayou City Music Series at Buffalo Bayou Park @ The Water Works at Buffalo Bayou Park

Join us and jazz up your Saturday night!

The last of the Spring Bayou City Music Series, the May 19th lineup at The Water Works in Buffalo Bayou Park features the full HSPVA Jazz Band; saxophonist Grady Gaines, who has recorded with Little Richard, Sam Cooke and many others; vocalist Trudy Lynn; and the ThunderSOUL Orchestra, a 14-piece orchestra featuring former students of Conrad Johnson from Kashmere High School, which was the subject of a 2011 documentary film.  Blankets for the lawn are encouraged and food trucks will be on site. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

Thanks to TXU Energy, the Houston Zoo is staying open late, so you can enjoy the animals in the cooler evening weather. Join us for Evening Chill every Friday & Saturday evening from June 22 through August 18. From 5 to 8 p.m. guests can enjoy added music and fun family activities that are sure to entertain kids and adults alike! All activities are included in Zoo admission and are free for Zoo Members.

Last entry into the zoo at 7.30pm.

Looking for a cool discount? All summer long, save $4 on regular Zoo admission (adult and child tickets!) when you arrive after 4 p.m.
