Artist Boat

An easy paddle in natural wetlands, the East End Lagoon offers an up-close view of the entry to the second largest port in the United States. Herons will greet you as you witness large vessels in the Houston Ship Channel carrying petrochemical products, cruise ship passengers, and consumer goods. This place was returned to the public and will be the City of Galveston’s interpretive home to Galveston Island’s natural history.

Work off those holiday pounds, start your new year off on this active adventure. Come on in.….the water’s fine!

Please consider registering with Ranger Kim (via email) for our upcoming trip. Reservations are required, and only prepared adults (ages 13yrs and older) may participate.

All equipment provided by the Friends of Galveston Island State Park to give your group a great experience on the water.  Dress for success with layers of quick-drying clothes, and a towel in the car for afterwards.

Join Ranger Lisa and Kim for this free, guided paddle on Oak Bayou. Experience the fun of kayaking on the flat, shallow, protected waters of Galveston Bay. Average depth of water = 4ft.
