The Bayou Preservation Association presents the 9th Annual Terry Hershey Bayou Stewardship Awards, honoring individuals for their outstanding commitment to aiding in the conservation, preservation, restoration or advocacy of Houston’s waterways. Join us for the 2019 Terry Hershey Bayou Stewardship Award Luncheon honoring Mayor Sylvester Turner, Kevin Shanley and Jackie Young, with a special recognition award to Ed Emmett.

With the support of our dedicated volunteers, our founders created the VegFest Houston festival which debuted in 2011. VegFest Houston is The Premier Vegan Community Festival of Texas and continues to grow each year! The Our Great Region Awards recognize outstanding organizations in the 13-county region working to make the region an even better place to live, work, and prosper. You are invited to the 2019 Creation Care Fest – Environmental Extravaganza! This free event is actually three events in one: lectures by expert speakers on The State of Our World, an exhibit by local environmental organizations, and a family-friendly festival with kids’ activities such as games, crafts, encounters with live education animals, seed planting (to take home & watch grow!) and much more. Bayou Land Conservancy’s Wild and Scenic Film Festival, a festival by activists for activists, leaves you feeling inspired and motivated to make a difference in your community and the world. Here you can experience the adrenaline of kayaking wild rivers, climbing the highest peaks, and trekking across the globe with adventure films from around the world. You’ll witness how individuals and communities across the globe are taking action.
BLC hopes to use the festival to increase a better community understanding of the connection we share with the planet and our role as stewards to keep it healthy for the next generations.

The Texas Environmental Excellence Awards is an annual awards program that honors achievements in environmental preservation and protection. There are ten diverse award categories that provide citizens, communities, businesses, and organizations an opportunity to obtain the state’s highest environmental honor and be recognized for their environmental projects. The deadline for submission is September 27th.
Since 1993, they have honored more than 250 successful environmental projects and efforts. By honoring these winners, the TCEQ hopes to encourage others to initiate like-minded projects and reinforce a spirit of environmental stewardship. These are the categories:

- Environmental Educator of the Year

- Innovative Operations/Management
