Come celebrate the diversity of regional bird species as evidenced by Audubon’s CEC, create active involvement in science and art, and encourage awareness and stewardship of the Matagorda Bay ecosystem. Matagorda Bay Birdfest is one of the only bird festivals with a bird parade for 3 years in a row. There will be an art contest, photography contest, birding and kayak tours, and a concert and awards ceremony.

Experience the beauty of Brays Bayou Greenway while enjoying free activities in Mason Park – the site of the recently completed Mason Park Pedestrian Bridge. Bayou Greenway Day is a celebration of Houston’s parks, trails, and your Bayou Greenways. The annual event provides families with an opportunity to enjoy greenspace as they walk, bike, run, stroll, play and picnic along Brays Bayou.

Booming & Blooming Attwater Prairie Chicken Festival 2019 @ Attwater Prairie Chicken National Wildlife Refuge

Attwater Prairie Chicken Festival is the annual celebration of the Attwater’s prairie-chicken and the native coastal prairie that the iconic bird calls home.

Early morning van tours will take participants up to one of the booming grounds to watch the male prairie chicken’s famous courtship dance. Other events this weekend include wildflower and native plant guided tours, bird walks and birding van tours with experienced birders, refuge management tours and a merchandise booth sponsored by the Friends of Attwater Prairie Chicken Refuge.

Sturdy shoes, drinking water, binoculars and/or spotting scopes and field guides are recommended.

Willow Waterhole 2019 MusicFEST @ Willow Waterhole Greenway

The seventh edition of the Willow Waterhole 2017 MusicFEST will be held on April 13-14. Coming on the heels of last year’s successful MusicFEST 2018, which featured 20 hours of FREE diverse music provided by 16 Pro Bands and 7 Student-School Band and the dynamic Artist Village with over 40 participating artists, our hopes are that this year’s event will exceed your expectations in quality performances and exciting amenities. Come join us for two fun-filled days of music and entertainment at the naturally beautiful 290-acre Willow Waterhole Greenway.

Volunteers are needed as greeters, parking assistants, tent and equipment set up, etc.
