Winter Camp: Nature Rangers @ Houston Arboretum & Nature Center

Have you ever wondered what a naturalist does? Houston Arboretum & Nature Center uses their 155-acre nature sanctuary as a base camp to hone naturalist skills. Discover the secrets of the forest as you learn how to track animals that make their home at the Arboretum. Listen to bird talk, make tools for scientific investigation, and help the Houston Arboretum with a conservation project!

Live animal encounters, outdoor games, nature hikes, and lots of hands-on fun science activities are always a part of the Arboretum experience.

For explorers ages 4 to 12

Children are taught in classes by age: (4, 5 – 6, 7 – 8, and 9 – 12)

Half Day (4) 9am-noon                     $135*                                          $180

Special works on Canvas & Paper

Art meets science in the Artist Boat Eco-Art Camp Sessions! Artist Boat Eco-Art Campers will experience true science and art enrichment with the creation of Eco-Art to beautify yards and homes. Join us for inspirational education.

Session themes are offered in which campers will use the scientific method to investigate processes in our ocean. Each camp will culminate in creating works of art that illustrate the knowledge that campers have acquired about our ocean. Camp sessions are designed for children Kindergarten-Sixth Grade.

Registration is required and spaces are limited to ensure small camp size and individual attention. Camp sessions are $200 each or $175 each if you sign up for two. To register, please call 409-770-0722 or email residency@artistboat.org.

Spring Break Camp “Mammals – Friend or Fur?” @ Houston Arboretum & Nature Center

Mammals – Friend or Fur?

What do mice, whales and humans have in common? We are all mammals! Come and learn more about this diverse and fascinating group of creatures and get to know some of the special mammals that live right here in Texas. We’ll discover the wonders of fur, test our acute mammal sense of smell and see just what the mammals have that allowed them to survive the great extinction that ended the age of dinosaurs.

For explorers ages 4 to 12
Children are taught in classes by age: (4, 5 – 6, 7 – 8, and 9 – 12)

Spring Into Nature Spring Break Camp @ Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Education & Recreation Center

Eco-Art Winter Camp @ Artist Boat Office
Jan 2 – Jan 4 all-day

Artist BoatArtist Boat is a regional leader in eco-art to inspire people to conserve our Gulf Coast. Art meets science in Artist Boat’s Eco-Art Camp sessions. Campers will experience true science and art enrichment with the creation of Eco-Art. Each camper will create high quality art projects which illustrate all that they have learned throughout the camp.

Shark Mania – Jan 2 (9am-4pm)
Many sharks inhabit the Gulf of Mexico and we will learn about their habits and hangouts. Special works in masks and collage!

Fish Frenzy – Jan 3 (9am-4pm)
Learn about how ocean organisms feed and what they eat! We will learn about adaptions for survival and create our own special works of freaky ocean organism art with ink printing and chalk pastel.

Off The Deep End – Jan 4 (9am-4pm)
Investigate the invertebrates of the sea including jellyfish, crab, shrimp, squids, and more! Special works on canvas and paper.

Special story time guests during lunch hour. Campers are asked to bring snacks, a water bottle and lunch for the all day fun.

Wetlands Winter Camp (1st-3rd grade) @ Baytown Nature Center
Jan 2 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

From Jan. 2- 4, 2018, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day, dance along to the beat as Baytown Nature Center takes a journey to the Antarctic. Discover how animals adapt to living in the cold and how we all impact their habitat from right here in Texas. Conclude camp enjoying snow just like the penguins.

Registration opens on Dec. 3, 2018.

Bring a sack lunch and reusable water bottle each day.

Holiday Break Camp – “Winter in the Woods” @ Edith L. Moore Natural Sanctuary_
Jan 2 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Let the winter adventures begin! Discover how woodland creatures adapt to cooler weather. Seek out animal tracks and clues along the trails and creek banks. Learn winter survival skills. Make cozy dens for education animals. Create nature crafts and science projects to take home, including snow slime.

Ages: 5-10 years old
Fee: $100 per child ($90 for 2nd child in same family)
