Bayou Preservation Association Virtual Gala @ Zoom

Join us for the Bayou Preservation Association’s first virtual gala!  Bayou Preservation Association will highlight 20 reasons to celebrate our bayous in 2020 and look back on 20 years of festive fetes in support of Bayou Preservation Association.

The event will take place on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at 6 pm and will feature:

Emcee, Sharron Melton, the host of CW39’s Morning Dose

  • Flashbacks with photos from Bayou Preservation Association archives of 20 years of events
  • Opportunities to win bayou-related items
  • and much more!

As a participant, you won’t have to worry about coming up with a costume (as fun as that can be) or navigating parking. You can relax and enjoy the show, knowing that you have made a difference in the health of our waterways.

Weekend Docent Tour @ Houston Botanica Garden

Docent tours require the purchase of a general admission ticket ($15/adult, $10/child) + the tour fee ($3/adult, $1/child).

A maximum capacity of 10 per tour, so spots on a tour must be purchased/reserved in advance. And tours are offered rain or shine.

Net Zero Home Tour @ Houston Permitting Center

Walk through a construction progress Net-Zero mash up with SIP (short for Structural Insulated Panel) and combined with Fortified and Indoor Air Plus, and the living space is elevated to the second floor. Sounds resilient, doesn’t it?

Net-Zero means high performance building envelope and efficient appliances zeroed out by solar panels. Fortified is a rating system to ensure the home survives hurricanes. DOE Indoor Air Plus along with Energy Star ensures more attributes are included to promote higher indoor air quality. And the garage is on the ground so the people and the furniture above don’t flood.
