Keep Pearland Beautiful and the City of Pearland- Parks and Recreation Department are partnering to host Keep Pearland Beautiful’s Twenty-third Annual Earth Day Celebration. More than 800 people, including a number of local dignitaries, have attended each of the last twenty fairs.
Businesses and organizations are encouraged to target their environmental messaging towards children and their families. Each booth or activity space is FREE and must have an environmental theme that fits into KPB’s mission to empower Pearland Citizens to take responsibility for their environment or our vision to make Pearland the cleanest most beautiful city in Texas.
This is an outdoors event. Please provide your own table, chairs and canopy. If you are interested in hosting a booth, or an activity, register today.
George Staby has provided scholarships limited to current AGR undergraduates who are enrolled with a declared horticulture-related major in entomology, environmental horticulture, horticulture, landscape gardening, landscape horticulture, ornamental horticulture, pest control, plant breeding, plant pathology, plant science (with horticulture emphasis), pomology, and/or vegetable crops who have completed at least three courses in the department of their declared major.
The deadline for this scholarship is Apr. 30, 2019.
This year’s theme is “Careers in STREAM” based on Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math. The event is expected to draw over 50 sponsors and exhibitors sharing a variety of careers in both the public and private water and waste water sectors. The event will also educate the community regarding the City’s high-quality drinking water, our drinking water supply and treatment system, water conservation and efficiency initiatives, waste water treatment system, Corral the Grease Program and other sanitary sewer overflow prevention methods.
The AIA Houston Design Awards program recognizes design excellence in architecture, residential architecture, interior architecture, restoration/renovation, and urban design. Criteria to be used by the jury include quality of design, resolution of the program idea, sustainable responsibility, innovation, thoughtfulness, and technique.
With the support of our dedicated volunteers, our founders created the VegFest Houston festival which debuted in 2011. VegFest Houston is The Premier Vegan Community Festival of Texas and continues to grow each year! This free event is actually three events in one: lectures by expert speakers on The State of Our World, an exhibit by local environmental organizations, and a family-friendly festival with kids’ activities such as games, crafts, encounters with live education animals, seed planting (to take home & watch grow!) and much more. Bayou Land Conservancy’s Wild and Scenic Film Festival, a festival by activists for activists, leaves you feeling inspired and motivated to make a difference in your community and the world. Here you can experience the adrenaline of kayaking wild rivers, climbing the highest peaks, and trekking across the globe with adventure films from around the world. You’ll witness how individuals and communities across the globe are taking action.
BLC hopes to use the festival to increase a better community understanding of the connection we share with the planet and our role as stewards to keep it healthy for the next generations.
Shell Educators’ Preview: Start your evening at 4 p.m. and earn one hour of CPE credit while viewing our newly renovated George W. Strake Hall of Malacology.
HMNS’ Educator Members will have an opportunity to speak to Tina Petway, the
Museum’s Associate Curator of Malacology, during the Shell Educators’ Preview.
As a special treat, all guests will also be able to visit our newest special exhibition,
Art of the Brick until 6:00 p.m.!
The Educator Event @HMNS: Continue your evening with us starting at 5 p.m.
and earn up to three additional hours of CPE credit depending on which
programming you attend. HMNS is featuring several ways to earn CPE credit from
attending workshops to taking a guided tour to seeing a show in our Planetarium.
Educators are able to earn a total of up to 4 hours of CPE credit while attending
HMNS’, An Evening for Educators!
