Houston Parks Board invites you to its fifth annual Bayou Greenway Day, a free outdoor festival at Mason Park for a day of fun with family and friends. Experience the beauty of Brays Bayou Greenway while enjoying free activities in Mason Park – the site of the recently completed Mason Park Pedestrian Bridge. Bayou Greenway Day is a celebration of Houston’s parks, trails, and your Bayou Greenways. The annual event provides families with an opportunity to enjoy greenspace as they walk, bike, run, stroll, play and picnic along Brays Bayou.
On April 17, 2019, from 5-8 p.m., the City of Houston will host the 1st Annual Student Innovation Showcase at Houston City Hall. Mayor Sylvester Turner will visit with student teams that have been awarded an Eco-Rise Eco-Audit Grant Award and will speak about the city’s sustainability initiatives.
The AIA Houston Design Awards program recognizes design excellence in architecture, residential architecture, interior architecture, restoration/renovation, and urban design. Criteria to be used by the jury include quality of design, resolution of the program idea, sustainable responsibility, innovation, thoughtfulness, and technique.

Shell Educators’ Preview: Start your evening at 4 p.m. and earn one hour of CPE credit while viewing our newly renovated George W. Strake Hall of Malacology.
HMNS’ Educator Members will have an opportunity to speak to Tina Petway, the
Museum’s Associate Curator of Malacology, during the Shell Educators’ Preview.
As a special treat, all guests will also be able to visit our newest special exhibition,
Art of the Brick until 6:00 p.m.!
The Educator Event @HMNS: Continue your evening with us starting at 5 p.m.
and earn up to three additional hours of CPE credit depending on which
programming you attend. HMNS is featuring several ways to earn CPE credit from
attending workshops to taking a guided tour to seeing a show in our Planetarium.
Educators are able to earn a total of up to 4 hours of CPE credit while attending
HMNS’, An Evening for Educators!

The Conservancy’s 16th Annual Run in the Park offers a 10K run, 5K run, a 5K walk and a 1K Kids’ Run. Runners and joggers wind through a scenic course below the Park’s historic live oak canopy. The run begins and ends at Molly Ann Smith Plaza near the Jones Reflection Pool where family and friends cheer on participants. A Post-Race Party will feature food, drinks, music and more!
The 5K run will be chip timed and the overall female and male winners of 7 varying age groups will receive great prizes (Overall Male & Female, 19&Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+). The top three female and male winners of the Kids’ Run also receive medals.
Registration costs $30 for the 10K and 5K races, and $15 for the 1K Kids’ Fun Run. Please note: all registrations will include a $2.50 signup fee. Group rates (for ten or more) are available.

Enjoy a free walking tour in Buffalo Bayou Park highlighting the landscape and ecology of 19th century Texas that created Houston, as well as the importance of prairies in rebuilding this astonishing and all but vanished ecosystem.
You’re invited to join #RunBuffaloBayou, hosted by Buffalo Bayou Partnership! The group will be led by marathoners Monica Esqueda and Saurabh Chaugule every Thursday evening along the trails of Buffalo Bayou Park.
Take in the beauty of Houston’s award-winning green space while you learn helpful running tips from experts and meet other Buffalo Bayou runners. Two different routes will be offered, a 3-mile and 5-mile route, and everyone from beginner to experienced runners are welcome.
Meet in front of The Water Works Visitor Center (105 Sabine Street) at 6:45pm every Thursday. The group will take off at 7pm.
