EcoTots are for children 18-36 months with an adult every Friday.
EcoKids are for children ages 3-6 every Wednesday and Friday.
EcoSchoolers are for homeschool children ages 7-10 every Wednesday and Friday.    EcoAdventurers are for children ages 11-14 every Wednesday.

Please bring a Snack, Refillable Water Bottle, mask, closed toe shoes and dress for the weather.

Environment Protectors Initiating Change (E.P.I.C)

E.P.I.C. is a free service learning club for high school teens that is aimed at learning about, and solving coastal environmental problems through hands-on projects.

If you would like to:

  • Have fun

Join them for a meeting at the Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Center on Wednesdays 4 pm – 5 pm!

Know Your Watershed Teacher Workshop

June 3, Know Your Watershed Field Trip

  • Location: Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center

  • Grade 3 – 12 teachers, free, up to 4 CPE credits, must teach in a public school in the Gulf Coast Region

  • Measure water quality at different points along Spring Creek by canoe. Hunt for macroinvertebrates in the aquatics lab (as indicators of water quality). Hear from Harris-Galveston Subsidence District about the free Smarter about Water program. And meet representatives of Texas Association for Environmental Education to learn about ways to get involved in EE.

    Sound Healing Meditation in the Cistern @ The Water Works
    Jun 3 @ 6:00 pm – 6:45 pm

    Find your center and practice meditation in the spacious and tranquil Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern. Offered in collaboration with Union is Creation and Youniversoul this meditation series will feature the use of singing bowls and wind chimes to encourage mindfulness and connectivity. Guests should bring their own cushion or mat.

    • Thursdays from 6-6:45 pm
    • Saturdays from 10-10:45 am

    34 person max.

    $15 per person

    All guests are required to wear a face mask and use hand sanitizer before entering the Cistern. Markers will be placed throughout the space to indicate socially-distanced spots. Cleaning will take place between every Cistern tour and meditation session.

    Prairie Friday @ Armand Bayou Nature Center
    Jun 4 @ 8:30 am – 12:00 pm

    An opportunity to participate in stewardship work for registered volunteers–if you are not already a volunteer, please check out Armand Bayou Nature Centers’ website for more information.

    Help restore the prairie by potting and planting native plants and forbs every Friday, rain or shine. You do not need to attend every Friday.
