Houston Audubon Nature Photography Association (HANPA) is an informal photo club for Houston Audubon members. They hold meetings monthly, September through May, on the first Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary headquarters library.

All of the material at Historic Houston’s Salvage Warehouse has been reclaimed from historic houses that Historic Houston has deconstructed, as well as individual items that have been brought to our Salvage Warehouse.  The Salvage Warehouse, now located at 1200 National, has become a regional resource for reclaimed building materials serving an 11 county region of Southeast Texas. Materials at the Salvage Warehouse include, but are not limited to, reclaimed wood flooring, windows and screens, interior/exterior doors and hardware, interior/exterior siding, paneling, and millwork, lumber, bath and kitchen fixtures, cabinetry, and exterior ironwork.

The Salvage Warehouse is open during the week, Tuesday- Friday 10-3 by appointment due to limited staffing and on the first and third Saturday’s of the month from 10-4.

Galveston Bay Foundation Director of Advocacy, Scott Jones, will present The Coastal Barrier: Galveston Bay Foundation’s Observations, Concerns and Comments. The presentation will provide the latest on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer’s plans to design and build an Upper Texas Coast storm surge coastal barrier. Scott will share Galveston Bay Foundation’s observations on the Corps’ design and analysis, concerns and comments. Open to GBF Members and friends.

Trees are important oxygen producers, help provide energy-saving shade and the presence of trees positively impacts our psychological well-being. Keep Pearland Beautiful will pass out native trees during Arbor Day. KPB encourages a suggested donation of $10/tree (Two per household limit).

Pearland will benefit from these trees in multiple ways. First, people are attracted to a community with beautiful landscaping that includes trees for shade. Second, in city urban spaces and your own neighborhood a thriving tree canopy is important to keeping temperatures down in the summer. Planting trees around your home increase the energy efficiency of your air conditioner in the summer months. Come join your fellow members to show a little love to Hermann Park on February 9. Starting at 9 am, everyone will spread out across the Park to tackle various projects. After the work is done, sit back in the McGovern Centennial Gardens for a complimentary beer and reflect on your good work.

No previous volunteering experience is required. Registration preferred.
