Christmas Bird Count (2 shifts) @ Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary
Dec 30 @ 6:00 am – 12:00 pm

Birders of all skill levels are welcome. The Arboretum will run the count in two “shifts.” You are welcome to come just for one shift, or you can do both.

The first shift will be from 6 – 9 a.m. Meet at the back door of the Nature Center building at 6 am. You’ll sign in, grab a coffee, and get ready to head out to the Meadow at 6:15 am to look for American Woodcock. Then you’ll bird the trails until 9 a.m., which is when the group will head back to the building for a break.

The second shift will be from 9 a.m. – Noon. Meet at the Nature Center building at 9 a.m. – this time the building will be open, so you can just come in the front door – then join the Arboretum for more birding as they cover the rest of the site. At noon, the group will meet back at the building again for another break.

The Arboretum is usually done by noon, so you are welcome to leave at this point. However, sometimes they do need to cover a few more spots in the afternoon, so if you are willing to stay for a little longer they’d welcome your help.
