EcoTots are for children 18-36 months with an adult every Friday.
EcoKids are for children ages 3-6 every Wednesday and Friday.
EcoSchoolers are for homeschool children ages 7-10 every Wednesday and Friday.    EcoAdventurers are for children ages 11-14 every Wednesday.

Please bring a Snack, Refillable Water Bottle, mask, closed toe shoes and dress for the weather.

Introducing BIRD Buddies — The most fun for your 3 to 5-year-old on a Friday. Your children will discover a new bird and the other animals that live in its habitat every week. Natural history education, crafts, games, song and dance and more await your children on this fun journey through the bird world.

This program will run from September through May with a special BIRD Bonanza Celebration in May for all participants. Registration covers all 27 classes and the BIRD Bonanza Celebration. Visit houstonaudubon.org for more details.

Urban Harvest’s Gardening 101 Workshop @ Blackshear Elementary School
Oct 27 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

In this 3-hour workshop, participants will learn gardening basics and garden nutrition education. The first half includes gardening 101 with hands-on planting demonstrations and tips for growing vegetables. Chef Nadia Ahmed of the Green Roots Kitchen will provide a cooking lesson featuring a delicious, seasonal recipes featuring cool weather greens and sweet potatoes.

Teachers, students age 8+, parents, and community volunteers are welcome. Teachers earn 3 CPE hours per workshop.

Space is limited; registration is required.

Nature Revealed: Opossums @ Houston Arboretum & Nature Center

Nature RevealedEverything about opossums is weird. They’re the only marsupials found north of Mexico. They have opposable thumbs… on their hind feet. They eat garbage and play dead. But there’s more to these strange creatures than meets the eye, as they are some of the most successful animals in North America, and they are extremely helpful to humans. Surprised? Find out why you should love opossums in this class.

Note: Wear walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
