Armand Bayou Guided Canoe Tour @ Bay Area Park

Come along on a morning of education and adventure, paddling on a guided tour along Armand Bayou. Enjoy a leisurely morning of wildlife watching, wetland education, relaxation, and fun. Observe numerous birds, reptiles, and deer who are starting their day at the water’s edge. Beginning and experienced canoeists welcome. Minimum age 12 years old. Advance reservations REQUIRED. 281 474-2551. Fee is $25 per person.

Come celebrate what makes the watershed special with Bayou City Waterkeeper! Hike Armand Bayou Nature Center’s forested paths, wetlands, and prairie and be a part of urban conservation as you walk to support your backyard bayous.

10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Interactive Nature 5k (Registration required)

12 – 2 p.m. Free Public Event with live music, wildlife exhibitions, and non-profit booths

All proceeds benefit Bayou City Waterkeeper’s conservation, advocacy, and education programs. This event is part of the Waterkeeper Alliance SPLASH Series, presented nationally by Toyota USA.

Canoe, Creek, and Commissioner Paddle Event @ Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center

Kick-off the cooler weather with this smooth paddle up Spring Creek to the beautiful white sand beach where Spring Creek and Cypress Creek meet. Join Harris County Commissioner Pct. 4 Jack Cagle for a fun trip down the beautiful Spring Creek Greenway. Registration is required.

Canoes and tandem kayaks will be available, but you can also bring your own (no later than 3:45 p.m. to offload your boat).

47th Annual Buffalo Bayou Partnership Regatta @ Allen's Landing Park

Whether you are entering competitively or paddling for pleasure, you won’t want to miss out on this longstanding Houston tradition.

Greens Bayou Regatta @ Brock Park Golf Course

The Greens Bayou Regatta, hosted by Greens Bayou Coalition, combines recreation, stewardship, and education on one of Houston’s most beautiful and secluded waterways, Greens Bayou. The 7.5 mile race course showcases two planned launch locations, Brock Park and Thomas Bell Foster Park and occurs, rain or shine.This annual event raises funds and awareness to implement the proposed 27.5 mile paddle trail. Register by September 26th for this exciting race and experience some of Houston’s hidden natural areas!

Environmental Educators Exchange: Kickerillo Mischer Preserve @ Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve

The Environmental Educators Exchange meets quarterly on the first Wednesday of the month. Our goal is to provide a neat space to rejuvenate, network and learn about trends in environmental education. All are welcome (including children). Bring a snack to share and invite a friend.

Tentative Agenda:
3:30 – 5:00 canoe in the lake
5:00 – 5:45 networking & resource sharing
5:45 – 6:30 night hike & bonfire?!?

A few rules: For canoeing, we can accommodate children weighing 30 pounds or more. Also, there must be one adult paddler per canoe and one adult per child 10 years and younger. Example: 2 adults with 2 children 10 and younger, 1 adult with 1 child 11+. Maximum 4 persons to a canoe. i.e. One parent cannot ride alone with two children. Canoes and PFDs will be furnished. You may bring your own canoe/kayak.
