Description: The Sam Houston Trails Coalition is celebrating receipt of its official 501(c)(3) organizational status with a special meeting, brown-bag lunch, and work party along the Magnolia Section of the Lone Star Hiking Trail on Saturday, February 5th. Anyone interested in participating is invited to attend the general meeting from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the Lone Star Hiking Trail Head #11: Iron Ore (N30 32.763 W95 08.605) on FM 2025, 14 miles northwest of US 59. A social brown-bag lunch (please bring your lunch and lawn chairs) will follow the meeting, and then members and guests will hit the trail from 1:00 to 4:00 PM to flag trails for future work. The public is invited to attend any or all portions of the events this day and learn more about the Coalition and efforts to preserve and expand recreational opportunities in the Sam Houston National Forest. Those interested in trail work are encouraged to bring plenty of water, insect repellent, sunscreen, and tools. Protective clothing is also strongly recommended. In case of rain, the entire day’s events are rescheduled for February 19, 2011.
