Jones Park Carnivorous Plants Program

Title: Jones Park Carnivorous Plants Program
Location: Jones Park
Event Link: Click here
Description: Plants that eat meat? You bet! The majority of people become familiar with the infamous Venus’s fly-trap at a young age, and many people have seen the science fiction film classic Little Shop of Horrors, but hundreds of other carnivorous species exist throughout the world. Texas is home to four kinds of carnivorous plants, which can be viewed at various times of the year in Jones Park’s carnivorous plant bog exhibit. To learn more about these raptors of the plant world and why they are so unique, join staff member Mike Howlett as he uses slides and live specimens to demonstrate the diversity of carnivorous plants and their habitats. Participants can take home a carnivorous plant to enjoy.
