MONTROSE LANDMARKS ADDED TO ENDANGERED BUILDINGS LIST

The Greater Houston Preservation Alliance has added River Oaks Shopping Center, River Oaks Theater, and the Alabama Theater/Bookstop to its list of endangered buildings. The Art Deco styled buildings, built in the late 1930s, are now owned by Weingarten Realty and are threatened with demolition to make room for redevelopment. The preservation alliance has established an on-line petition to ask the developer to spare the buildings at the GHPA website.
