Community Notes 9-22-2010

  1. EarthShare Week. This week is Earthshare Week from September 18th to the 26th. This is the kick-off of the fall workplace giving campaign season.   2. DEA Drug Take Back Day. The federal Drug Enforcement Administration is holding a drug take-back day September 25. Many people throw away old drugs or flush them down the toilet, which is bad for the environment. The drive will help give people a safe way to get rid of their drugs.   3. 2011 Texas Environmental Excellence Awards. Nominations are now being accepted for the 2011 Texas Environmental Excellence Awards, the state’s highest environmental honor. These annual awards recognize achievements across Texas that significantly reduce waste, conserve natural resources, and prevent pollution. Deadline for applications is Oct. 8.
