- Shell Leading Support of BBP’s Clean & Green Program. Buffalo Bayou Partnership is honored to announce that Shell Oil Company signed on again this year to be lead sponsor of its highly successful Clean & Green program, a clean up and restoration initiative, now in its fourth year. To celebrate this momentous occasion, volunteers from Shell Oil Company worked hard on a hot August day and removed 10 cubic yards of trash along Buffalo Bayou at the waterway’s juncture at the Ship Channel. In addition to the many bags of debris, plastic bags and water bottles, two abandoned kittens were found. They have since become our bayou mascots, named Buffy (for Buffalo Bayou) and Coco, and have been adopted by Diane Schenke, President of the Greater East End Management District and a community partner with the Clean & Green program.
