  1. Houston, Texas, and Albuquerque, New Mexico Receive $923,000 to Reduce Greenhouse Gases (EPA News, 9/8)
    The Environmental Protection Agency announced that the City of Houston and the City of Albuquerque will receive grants  to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well as increase energy commission. Houston will use the money to develop electric vehicle charging infrastructure, implement a bike-share program, and improve the existing bike infrastructure.

  2. Highlands residents discuss dioxin fears (Ben Tinsley – The Baytown Sun, 9/7)
    A meeting in the Highlands took place to allow residents to express their fears over a highly toxic dioxin in the water as well as ask questions about the San Jacinto Waste Pits Superfund Site. There has been much concern over local corporations illegally dumping poisons into the local water. The questions and issues will be passed on to the Environmental Protection Agency.

    The TCEQ approved $716,608 in penalties against 65 regulated entities for violations of state environmental regulations, including agricultural, air quality, petroleum storage tanks, municipal waste discharge, and more.
