The Rev. William J. Young Institute of the University of St. Thomas is named after Rev. William J. Young, CSB, who for more than three decades dedicated himself to the cause of social justice. Since 2004, the Young Institute has offered a conference every June examining a timely issue through the lenses of the Papal encyclicals on social justice and the seven principles of Catholic Social Teaching articulated by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Everyone is invited to join this civil deliberation on matters that particularly affect those on the margin of political, social, and economic structures.
