Description: Are you worried that your child may turn into a couch potato this summer? Our Summer Science Nights are a great way to enrich your child’s understanding of science in the best laboratory of all – the great outdoors. Each session includes hands-on, minds-on activities and an action-packed hike on one of our wildlife-rich preserves.
The hours just before sunset are a thrilling time to explore the Katy Prairie. In the coolness of the evening you are sure to spot nighthawks sweeping overhead, hear buzzing crickets, and witness a spectacular sunset. If you’re ready to explore this shadowy world of adventure then our Summer Science Nights are for you! We’ll play games, do crafts, run simple experiments, and take fun-filled hikes to discover some of the sensational science behind the prairie’s wildlife and history.
Wednesdays in June and July | All classes are from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Audience: Classes designed for 5 – 10 year olds.
Classes: You can sign up for all three classes in a session or mix and match as it fits your schedule!

Summer Serpents: Exploring snake diversity and feeding habitats.
June 23 & July 21
Just Stay Cool!: Discovering how animals, people, and plants stay cool during the summer.
June 30 & July 28
Prehistoric Prairie: Exploring the giant extinct mammals and prehistoric people of the Katy Prairie
Registration limited and required. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. To register you must download and print the registration form (also found on the Events page of our website) and send it to our office with payment enclosed at 3015 Richmond Avenue, Suite 230, Houston, TX 77098 or email it to us at info@katyprairie.org for more details and to register. Incomplete forms will not be accepted.
