    The Environmental Protection Agency is making progress with the issue of industrial waste dump into the San Jacinto River. People are taking large health risks if they choose to eat any of the wildlife found in the area around the Superfund site. Warning signs and fences will be put up around the site. There is talk of cleanup, but the EPA is not quite prepared for it, so a date has not been set.

    The Texas Parks and Wildlife has launched a campaign to educate Texans about giant salvinia, which threatens the state’s ecosystem. The salvia is an invasive species that is found on the surface of the water and can double its coverage area in less than a week. Officials say that it threatens power plant intakes, and harms the fishing industry and recreational tourism.

    The pollen this year seems to be especially bad and may be the worst it has been in six years according to an allergy specialist. This may be the result of a colder, which delayed the blooming of many plants. Now everything is blooming at once and the high winds are not helping the matter. Many people are forced to suffer as there has been a large influx of patients for the allergy specialist.
